The Lullaby Factory
The Lullaby Factory is a fantastical artwork at Great Ormond St Hospital created by Studio Weave. Described as 'a landscape of mysterious pipes and curious instruments that play beautiful music to send you to sleep', the sculpture stretches up an empty courtyard and really brings the space alive.
In 2016, Pulse Arts was commissioned to write and record some new music to play from the sculpture. We spent time working across the hospital, recording music with patients, staff and turning our recordings into a 12 minute piece of music. You can see the Lullaby Factory from the Lagoon Restaurant and from the windows of the Morgan Stanley Clinical Building and you you will soon be able to hear the soundtrack online.
Adult wards at Broomfield Hospital
In 2017, Pulse Arts did a short (15 week) project on Broomfield Hospital's Care Of The Elderly Wards (Danbury, Goldhanger, Baddow and Braxted). We were generously supported by the Friends Of Broomfield Hospital charity. The project was warmly received, and we learnt an awful lot working with a different patient group. We hope to return to this work at some stage. A real highlight was meeting John, with whom we filmed this video:
