Pulse Arts at The Whittington Hospital

New Maternity Voices Report about our Programme at The Whittington Hospital

In January 2019 Pulse Arts began a new programme at The Whittington Hospital in Islington. Here we have been working in a new and exciting setting for us, the hospital’s maternity services!

We have been making music with new-born babies, mothers and fathers on Eddington post-natal ward, as well as the Murray ward for high risk antenatal mother's and transitional care babies. We also worked on the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Specialist Care Baby Unit and Ifor Children’s ward which are more familiar settings for us.

This project came about through a fantastic partnership with The Whittington’s Maternity Voices Forum. Lay Chair Roz Webb visited our sessions several times and has produced the report below based on her observations.

You can read the full report here. Please share it widely, we would love to hear what you think!

Roz’s expert perspective, along with hospital staff and patients’ feedback, has given us new insights into our practice and the effect of Music in Healthcare within maternity sevices.

We would like to thank The Whittington Hospital and Children in Need for supporting this programme.
